
Jazmine Jacobson was born in and brought up from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Pam her mother is an ex-backup singer at Philadelphia International Records. When she was 5 years old, her father landed a position as a curator for Philadelphia's Historic Strawberry Mansion in the Strawberry Mansion section, and her family relocated to the landmark historical building. She graduated in 2005 from the Philadelphia High School for the Creative and Performing Arts in which she was singing music major. Sullivan started singing as a contralto with the children's choir, then a few years later in the adult group. Sullivan received little exposure to secular music. The singer recalls she was 11 when someone was requesting her to sing for solos at the church. She wasn't fully ready. "Then McDonald's offered a competition to children from major cities. The contest gave me the chance to sing Accept God's Will on Showtime Apollo. The audience was extremely supportive." She sang with Stevie Wonder at his grandson's birthday celebration at thirteen. Sullivan was signed initially to Jive Records at the age fifteen. In the age group of 15 She was signed by Jive Records. They recorded an entire album in Jive Records and it didn't get made available for release. Sullivan was later dropped by the labels. They had a strong working relations with Missy Elliott. Elliott produced numerous tracks for her such as "Backstabbers" and "Backstabbers," which was written by Timbaland.
